It should be obvious by now that I like wine tasting. What may not be obvious is that my second-favorite activity is movie watching. While others were tricking out their cars, or creating beautiful things in their workshops, I was obsessing over my home theater. For a while, I even worked for a major movie studio, and really leveraged our huge discount on THX-certified electronics. Recently my two passions joined together in an amazing new product: wine-infused popcorn! Is this a wonderful world, or what?
Initially there are two popcorn “varietals” available: Sauvignon Blanc Kettle and Pinot Noir Drizzle. The names are pretty much self-explanatory. These little bits of heaven are produced by Populence, from New York City. The company does not have nationwide distribution yet, but you can find their website here.
You can buy a sampler for $8 or a gallon bucket for $35, with a two gallon bucket going a mere $13 more. Either of the buckets can be a selection of up to three popcorn flavors, so you can really let your imagination go wild.
Will this change the world? Probably not, but this sure brings together two of my favorite things. So what do you think pairs well with “Saving Private Ryan”?
