Happy Dog Day! I could not resist celebrating this day with all of you and use it as an excuse to show off my furbaby and hope that you’ll share yours too! This is Gigi, Rob and my 10 year old Miniature Pinscher mix that we rescued from a shelter when she was three. While she doesn’t go with us to the wineries, she is an excellent at-home tasting companion.
There is something welcoming (and always a pleasant surprise) when walking into a new winery and being greeted by the winery dog or another patron’s dog. Dogs add a sense of comfort that make you feel like you are in someone’s home and they have opened up their personal wine collection to share.
Along with the joy of many wineries allowing dogs in their tasting room, there are multiple wineries that take it one step further and put their furbaby’s mug on the bottle! I swear I end up walking out with a bottle every single time.
For your enjoyment I have put together a list (in no particular order) of wines with dogs on the label!
Please note that I have only enjoyed wine from Longevity and from d’Art which believe it or not, ended up in our wine fridge. If you have tried any of the other bottles on the list or if you know of any others please do share! Clearly I am a dog person, but I would like to give an honorable mention to Tenuta Winery and Butters the cat who can be seen roaming around, showing off his property.
About the Author: Sarah's philosophy is that every occasion; a wedding, job promotion, Friday night after a tough week or even sitting at a Pai Gow table in Las Vegas should be celebrated with a glass of bubbly in hand. Her reviews will be casual, just like her. Descriptions will be basic and typically consist of a great place to drink said wine.
