The days of sweating through your sundress are over for the year, and it’s officially fall in California wine country. Luckily for us, it never gets too chilly, and we can still have fun with our outfits! Every time I go wine tasting, I’m almost as excited to dress up as I am to taste some delish new wine. Think about it: almost every borderline clothing purchase can be justified by saying, “Eh, I can wear it wine tasting on the weekend or something.”
You have so many options, especially at CA tasting rooms, which vary in atmosphere and style. In the Livermore, Lodi, and Santa Cruz wine countries, you can dress as casually as you like without a worry. Areas like Sonoma, Napa and Paso tend to be a bit dressier, but there aren’t any requirements and you can still be comfortable.
A major key no matter where you taste? Bringing a jacket and wearing comfortable shoes! If you’re touring a winery you’ll be in the chilly wine production areas or barrel rooms, and walking around a good amount. Also keep in mind that heels tend to feel like less of a good choice after a glass or two 😉 Here are some ideas I’m mulling over for this season’s wine tasting events. I added locations just for fun, but this would really work anywhere.
Bucket Bag – Black, $24.99 | Chelsea Boots – Black, $34.99 | MANGO Gingham blazer, $79.99 | MANGO Ripped details slim-fit jeans, $59.99 | Satin and Lace Camisole Top – Beige, $29.99
The blazer is BACK, baby, and it’s the perfect “I have no idea what to wear” item.
Open Cardigan | Floral jumpsuit | Sunglasses | Mules | Crossbody Bag | Lip pencil
Jumpsuits are my absolute fave — until I have to use a public restroom. It does all the heavy lifting for you, so just add a cardigan and some accessories to finish it off.
Tweed skirt | Cream sweater | Maroon top | Pendant necklace | Hoops |Boots | Rings
Napa always makes me feel a little preppy, and this fall heavier prep fabrics like tweed are everywhere. Rose gold is also my forever favorite.
Tie-neck top | black jeans | heels | earrings | wallet | liquid lipstick
Another major key for wine tasting? Long-lasting lipstick! I always go for a liquid lip so I’m not smudging my ish all over the glasses. Also this shirt is TEN DOLLARS and I’m buying 17.
I hope these outfits inspire you to do some online shopping and shop your closet for your next wine tasting weekend! Don’t worry, there’s still rose even if it isn’t rose season anymore.
