Morgan Hill Cellars

It was a wonderful day for a wine tasting tour of the Santa Clara Valley. Sunny and warm, with the vineyards transitioning from green to red. Our next stop on the tour: Morgan Hills Cellars.

The days of sweating through your sundress are over for the year, and it’s officially fall in California wine country. Luckily for us, it never gets too chilly, and we can still have fun with our outfits! Every time I go wine tasting, I’m almost as excited to dress up as I am to taste some delish new wine. Think about it: almost every borderline clothing purchase can be justified by saying, “Eh, I can wear it wine tasting on the weekend or something.”

We were so excited to kick off our first visit to the Santa Clara Valley AVA. The first stop was recommended by everyone we asked: the Guglielmo Winery.

Autumn has come to Lodi, so it is time to celebrate some Spanish inspired wines! Mark your calendars, Tempranillo Weekend is coming!

With the vineyards shifting from green to yellow and red, one might think that the wine season is over. But to quote the late comedian John Pinette, “Nay, Nay!” The very next weekend featured a wine club party at Ruby Hill Winery! Party on, wine lovers:

Whenever we are wine tasting, we ask our wine guide about local wineries that they enjoy. Who knows the winery scene better than someone who is part of it? During a recent trip to Lodi, one winery name kept coming up: Bokisch Vineyards. Here’s how our first visit went:

An upcoming fundraiser combines chef Tyler Florence and winery chef Jeff Mosher to present a multi-course dinner paired with Robert Mondavi wines. Following the meal, there will be a private screening of Tyler’s film Uncrushable, a documentary on the wine country communities affected by last year’s wildfires. Some of the proceeds will go to fire relief. That’s a pretty great night!

Lodi winemakers with a sparkling program? Yes, it is true! We recently visited with one such pioneer, Susan Tipton, Owner/Winemaker at Acquiesce Winery. Here’s what we learned:
