One of the best aspects of being a wine club member is attending wine release events. Last weekend, Eagle Ridge released their 2012 Pinot Grigio and 2008 Petite Sirah. Once again, winery owners Jim and Cheryl Perry put together an afternoon of lovely wines and added some delicious food pairings.
Every trip to Eagle Ridge brings surprises. This weekend featured some Adirondack chairs made from barrel staves, offered at very reasonable prices. These chairs, footstools and tables look amazing, and would look even more amazing in our back yard. Hmmm, Fathers’ Day is just around the corner, right?
We were treated to food pairings from Chef Jim Thurman. His passion for food is apparent within 30 seconds of meeting him. He exudes excitement, enthusiasm and an obvious joy of sharing new flavors.
His smoked salmon generated rave reviews (I’m allergic, so I accepted everyone’s testimonials) and the BBQ meatballs on roasted pepper-infused cheese may have changed my world view. Chef Jim specializes in special events like wine release parties, so if you see him on the program for another party, PLEASE leave a comment, I’ll meet you there!
So we tasted, snacked, shopped (that melted-bottle cheese tray clearly needed a new home) and picked up our Pinot Grigio and Petite Sirah club pack. Oh, and we couldn’t pass up the amazing case sale on the Eagle Ridge 2006 Petite Sirah. Once again, our wine fridge is out of space. What a great problem to solve!
