Thursdays are pretty good, right? Right on the run-up to the weekend, but not too crowded if you do actually get a chance to go out. But what to do? What to do? Hint: the Ruby Hill Winery is open ALL afternoon! So on a recent beautiful autumn Thursday, we put together a pretty amazing afternoon.
We usually visit Ruby Hill during their wine release parties. The parties are fun; with new wines, fun snacks, barrel tastings and a lot of happy people. And instead of party favors when we leave, we get bottles of wine! During the parties the members’ patio is jammed, but on a random Thursday afternoon you can have your choice of tables.
On this Thursday afternoon, we started by sampling some of the newer Ruby Hills wine releases. Good times, but we were in the mood for a more sedentary wine tasting experience. So we raised the game. That involved buying a bottle of their sparkling wine and a snack platter from their deli. For $20 we chose two cheeses and a bakery item, in our case: breadsticks. Bam! Now we could enjoy the good life, without all the walking.
The next time you have a Thursday afternoon free, consider following our lead. The Ruby Hill Winery patio is beautiful, the views are great, and the deli counter provides that little bit extra to put the afternoon over the top.
One last tip: Campo di Bocce is right across the street, and they serve a pretty mean chicken piccata with risotto. Tell them we sent you!
